AI4IA operates within and across the key European and national structures shaping AI research, deployment, and governance. Our involvement and interaction in this ecosystem position the group at the intersection of research production and systemic impact.
BDVA
Associate member and Platinum BDVA i-space (ahedd). AI4IA contributes to BDVA's research and innovation agenda on data-driven AI, participating in working groups on i-spaces, data labs, and activities for AI ecosystem governance at European scale.
ADRA
Member of the AI, Data and Robotics Association, the private side of the Horizon Europe partnership shaping the EU's flagship AI R&I agenda.
Digital SME
Member of the European DIGITAL SME Alliance Focus Group Artificial Intelligence and the Working Group Digitalisation, connecting AI4IA's adoption research with the needs and priorities of Europe's digital SME community — a primary subject and beneficiary of our transformation methodology work.
PHAROS
PHAROS is Greece's EuroHPC-designated AI Factory that federates compute, data, and AI services powered by the DAEDALUS supercomputer. AI4IA leads several activities of PHAROS, such as AI innovation ecosystem collaborations, the Data Lab and develops digital tools that support innovation
AIoDP
AI4IA actively contributes to the European AI-on-Demand Platform, examining its governance and collaboration architecture with Digital Innovation Hubs and AI Factories and supporting the AI-.
EDIHs
Embedded in the EDIH network through Smart Attica and smartHEALTH EDIHs. AI4IA's adoption research work is grounded in direct fieldwork with EDIH-assisted organisations.
ahedd
The Attica Hub for the Economy of Data and Devices — founded by IIT Demokritos and now an independent spinoff. AI4IA's adoption science research has been based on years of work within ahedd providing continuous access to SME and enterprise adoption journeys.
Demokritos Dataspace
An operational data space deployment at IIT Demokritos, serving as a sovereign data infrastructure test case aligned with Common European Data Spaces standards. Directly supports R.4 research on experimentation environments and FAIR data interoperability.
NCSR "Demokritos"
Greece's largest multidisciplinary research centre, hosting AI4IA within its Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT). Demokritos provides the institutional infrastructure — computational, collaborative, and governance — within which the group operates. The new AI building and central data centre (est. 2026) further strengthen the group's research environment.
Lefkippos
The Technology Park of Attica hosted by Demokritos, housing over 50 companies across sectors including AI, ICT, and advanced technologies. Lefkippos provides AI4IA with direct proximity to innovation-active enterprises — a living ecosystem for adoption research and research-industry collaboration.
SynAI Network — AUEB & Athena Research Center
A two-year trilateral MoU between NCSR Demokritos, the Athens University of Economics and Business, and the Athena Research Center, establishing the SynAI Network for collaborative AI research, technology transfer, and adoption across the Greek economy and society. Structured around four axes: joint research, entrepreneurship support, knowledge dissemination, and translation of AI into the real economy.
Demokritos–QUALCO Fellowship
A five-year industrial R&D fellowship collaboration between IIT Demokritos and QUALCO, advancing AI-driven research in FinTech with scientific supervision from Demokritos and domain expertise from QUALCO. Recognised with the Gold Award in Business & Academic Institutions Cooperation at the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards 2022. A foundational model for AI4IA's research-industry fellowship methodology.
OTE Group
Research collaboration between IIT Demokritos and OTE Group — Greece's leading telecommunications provider — on AI applications in enterprise AI adoption.
